Stains stink… LITERALLY sometimes.

You buy your brand new Lil Bums Cloth Diapers and you want them to stay fresh and white, but if only right?

I have been in a habit of switching to more natural methods of whitening my cloth diaper inserts and removing the stains. I have tried everything from bleach to baking soda, but this works fairly well if you are wanting to steer far away from bleach.

Here is how I got these bright white from these old and new stains:

  1. First I stripped them with The Laundry Tarts “strip it” then I laid them in the sun an hour or so
  2. The stain had faded but still noticeable so next I added Lemon juice a squirt into a small spray bottle from the dollar tree with water.
  3. I sprayed it on the stain and let it sit in the sun. You can definitely use fresh lemon juice if you would like as well!
  4. Every so often I would check on it if it was dry and still visible I would spray more on. After a few hours they were good as new!!

So say goodbye to bleach and give this natural stain remedy a try. Be sure to comment and let us know what you think!

  1. My only concern is I will only be able to use that method part of the year. I live very far north and while the sun is bright in the winter on the snow I’d hate to have to thaw the inserts too.
