There’s always going to be some debate over what will be the safest solution for making your diapers and inserts incredibly white again. But, regardless of what you have heard, I will share you what works for my family!
I have been cloth diapering for two and a half years and I have tried everything. The best thing that I have come across is a Bleach soak.. but there is always the risk of it eating your fabric!
As a safer option, I like to go with Oxiclean. Oxiclean’s plain ole main ingredient that does all of the work is Hydrogen Peroxide. I have been using it to brighten my whites for years and have never had an issue with it while using it on my diapers. Then again, this is my personal experience.
To make your Oxiclean soak for your diapers, mix 1 cup of Oxi with 1 cup of water. Take a spoon and make sure it is well blended.
In a large plastic tub (some even use their bath tubs!), fill with 5-7 gallons of water-or to put it simply without any measurement, just fill it halfway. Now dump the Oxiclean solution into the tub and stir around.
Finally, add in your stained (clean) cloth diapers and let them soak over night or for 8 hours.
Take them out and put them immediately into the washing machine and wash-without detergent-on hot as normal.
Rinse and dry per usual routine.
How do you get your stains out?
